Collage: Reiki Flowers: 20th August 2012
July 28, 2013

DSCN2414This recently completed collage reminds me how reiki can open our hearts and minds to new possibilities.

If we become deeply relaxed during a reiki healing, the normal constraints and barriers of our thinking may fall away giving space for new ideas, altered attitudes, creative solutions and new perspectives to emerge. Walls we have built around our hearts may dissolve allowing us to feel openly and deeply in a safe, nurturing space.

This collage is inspired by imagery experienced during a reiki healing.

Now Castlemaine is my home, I am seeking ways to practise reiki in this community. I am interested in using reiki in a volunteering capacity and in sharing reiki healings with other practitioners.

Reiki Egg: 30th July 2012
August 19, 2012

When we are receiving a reiki healing, we may become deeply relaxed. In this state, memories and emotions which are normally part of our inner landscape may rise to claim our attention.

We may be deeply moved by the experience and tears will be shed.

In some instances, the memories or emotions are challenging or confronting. Reiki is benign, creating a safe space to deal with and release these memories or emotions.

Some people may need to do further work with the support of a counsellor.

Reiki Awareness: 14th May 2012
July 8, 2012

Over the years I have had a variety of experiences during reiki sessions with clients.

Most often, I feel a deep sense of connection with the client where we are being held in a bubble of healing.

I may feel strong energy, tingling energy, painful energy or no sensation at all.

I have felt energy in my hands, back, chest, feet and head.

There may be imagery, colours, sounds or a sense of being joined by an unseen presence.

I may tune in to the emotions of the person or be completely oblivious.

I am open to whatever experiences occur during a healing.

Allow and observe.

hold onto and let go.

I am a volunteer reiki therapist at Fernlea House, a community organisation which offers services to people with life limiting illnesses and their carers.

From time to time I may experience imagery during a healing. I don’t seek to ascribe meaning to the images but accept them as they are.

The Reiki Level One course I completed in 2001 opened up a whole new world to me, the world of the spirit, intuition and creativity.

I went on to complete Reiki Level Three in 2005.

This is National Reiki Awareness Week with various events happening around Australia to promote Reiki. As a member of the Australian Reiki Connection, I will be participating in an event where we will be  offering reiki healings at Waverley Community Learning Centre on Saturday, the 9th of June from 10.30am and concluding at 3.30pm.

I began my own journey with reiki when I  attended the Usui Reiki Centre in Camberwell for reiki healings.

The experience of receiving reiki healings sparked my interest and curiosity so I wanted to learn more about this healing modality. It seemed to me  the best way to do this was to learn the basics. I started with Gillian Moxom of the Healing House intending to complete only the Reiki One level in 2001 . However, the course opened up a whole new world to me – the world of the spirit, intuition and creativity  – so I knew I needed to progress further in my reiki experiences. I went on to complete  reiki practitioner  (Reiki Two) in 2001 and Master Healer  in 2003 with Gill before completing the Master Teacher level (Reiki Three) in 2005 with Denise Harradine who was then based at the Heart and Soul Centre in Upper Ferntree Gully.

As a reiki practitioner, I have continued to build on my reiki experiences at reiki share sessions and offering reiki healings to individual clients. I have participated in the Wingman project working with reiki colleagues offering healings to people affected by the Black Saturday bushfires at Kinglake. I currently work as a volunteer reiki therapist at Fernlea House offering healings to people with life limiting illnesses.

My work as a reiki practitioner is supported by the skills and experience gained during a 17 year career in the community sector and my studies in community development and art therapy.

As a member of the Association of Australian Reiki Professionals, the Reiki One course follows the guidelines set by the Australian Reiki Connection.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss the course.

Welcome – My first post
November 13, 2011

Welcome to my blog.

I gained the courage to join the blogosphere after a short workshop at The Mountain District Learning Centre in Ferntree Gully. Thanks Cath.

It will take a little while to get the hang of this.

I am writing this blog to promote my healing practice – Margaret Griffin – Pathways to Healing.

I will be posting information about:

  • groups I am offering at local community houses
  • the one to one services I offer
  • promotional events I am attending
  • information about reiki, art therapy, meditation and sound healing
  • information about the workshops or courses I attend for my own professional and personal development.

I will also be including examples of my own art work.

I plan to add a post every couple of weeks or so.

Thank you for joining me on my first step into the world of blogdom.
