Golden Beauties
August 30, 2018

I delved deep into my archives for this drawing.

I was on a family holiday in Barwon Heads in January 2010.

The sunflowers were on the dining table in the holiday house when we arrived.

Whilst my family members were surfing at nearby Thirteenth Beach, I had the pleasure of making this drawing using wax crayon.

Charcoal Drawing – Beach Cricket
January 26, 2015

DSCN3471

I sit battling with the wind whipped page

I can hear the calls of the boys but the wind blows the words away,

A man supervises the action as the boys prance about

I look up to find the game has dissolved,

The boys are now intent on other pursuits.

Other cricket games ebb and flow along the shore exposed by the low tide,

If there are no stumps, an upended boogie board does the job.

I think this is an appropriate post for Australia Day, 26th January 2015.

Charcoal Drawing: River Activity
February 20, 2013

DSCN2336

The River has been a hive of activity

Wind powered, muscle powered, motor powered craft

sailed, paddled and driven past my view.

The beach and water are now emptying

The breeze becoming brisker and cooler.

There are a few hardy souls

Wet suit clad in the river,

A child defies his grandmother who calls to him to come into shallower water,

The sea gulls watch bemused.
