This is the third post about The Keep, an open garden I visited in November 2014 as part of the Castlemaine and District Festival of Gardens.
In this final post I pay attention to the elements which add to the pleasures of the garden.
Careful attention to detail – There is harmony in the arrangement of the blue stone pavers.
The use of water from the smallest ………
………… to the expansive.
A weeping log supplies the dam with bore water.
Wood, metal, stone and pottery are artfully combined.

Lovely place
Yes, Marylou, The Keep is a lovely place. The owners came from Austria and created this inspirational garden over many years.
I love the placement of the pavers and also the water coming out of the weeping log. The wood, metal stone and pottery additions are lovely. What a special garden! Thank you so much for sharing this clever and beautiful garden. I always enjoy your garden tours, although it does make me feel a little lazy about my backyard efforts lately! I agree open gardens can be inspirational. There is a lot which can be learnt from what others have achieved.
One day I am going to visit this garden. I would have never heard about it apart from your posting Margaret. It is a perfect example of what you can do with your outdoor space and how art can be mingled in with nature to create a beautiful source of enjoyment. Margaret, I love this place! The blue stone pavers are arranged beautifully… soothing tones to the gardens all around. Water features are calming as well. I would feel VERY at home at The Keep. Lovely spot!
Lori, I realised there was a lot going on in this garden when I gazed at the pavers and saw how each one had been carefully chosen and placed – there was nothing random about them.
The garden is quiet and subtle. It takes time to appreciate its beauty.
