This was my second visit to Mica Grange in Sutton Grange this year. I visited in autumn and now in spring on the 9th of November.
The spring experience was quite different to the first visit – there was a new sculpture exhibition and the spring flowers were blooming.
If you look at the photographs in autumn, you will see how dry the country was whilst in spring, the ground was carpeted with green.
I have decided to publish two posts on the spring visit – this one featuring the new sculpture exhibition and the second, the flowers.

I tried to be creative with some of my photographs.
Mica Grange provides a grand setting for the sculptures.
These ceramic poles with their whimsical figures attracted my admiration.
I think this group would need to be purchased as a set as they represent the scattering of dandelion fluff.

I love all these interesting sculptures! I’d like to have a few in my garden. Actually, this has inspired me to try making some myself. I have a small roll of thin metal tie wire, pliers and wire cutters sitting around. The only thing is my arthritic hands may not cope so well and I am also not very spatially minded. Like you, my budget can’t cope with purchasing large pieces of art by others though, so I’ll give it a go. Lovely, artistic pictures, Margaret. Thanks for sharing them. I am glad you have been inspired to have a go at creating some wire sculptures yourself, Jane. I am sure all the artists made tentative steps initially. Their work developed with practice and growing confidence.

Thank you for your good wishes, Lori. I, too, enjoy seeing something I really like and imagine transporting it to my garden. Some of the garden art or sculpture that has appealed to me would totally swamp my pocket sized yard, never mind my pocket sized budget!
I love the wrens and the big cup and saucer. They both say a lot about the owners of Mica Grange :). I wonder who made those awesome ceramic poles? Someone is very creative indeed! I love the 3 dandelion defluff sculptures and altogether, Mica Grange is an amazing place to visit by the looks of it. I hope you have a really good Christmas (if you celebrate it) and that 2015 is a wonderful mix of learning, sharing and enjoying life to the max :).
Thank you for your good wishes, Fran. I believe the ceramic poles were made by a local artist. I am hoping the artist will have an open studio in 2015 during the Castlemaine State Festival.
By hosting two sculpture exhibitions a year, the owners of Mica Grange are supporting artists and ensuring return visits by the public.
The sculptures are amazing and complement the garden incredibly well. I would love to visit and talk to people who created such amazing sculptures. They are truly great artistic talents. Thank you again for sharing their beautiful work. I would never have seen it otherwise Margaret 🙂
