Mosaic: Water Lily

DSCN2591

This is the second of the series of transparent mosaics.

I was a bit disappointed with the result as the shape of the water lily does not stand out from the background.

I included too many colours in the background rather than choose one colour, green or blue, to provide the contrast which was needed to provide definition for the flower shape.

  1. What a beautiful piece, Margaret! I love these colors and textures!

    • Thank you Lori, Although the flower doesn’t stand out, there is still lots to like about the mosaic.

  2. While I can understand your disappointment about the flower not showing up as you’d wanted, I think it’s a very beautiful piece of art, with the green and blue glass providing the feeling of the water and leaves. Perhaps it’s meant to be viewed upside down 🙂

    • Yes, Enivea, I was trying to capture water and leaves by using the blue and green glass. The clear textured glass represents rain falling on the flower.
