Pom Pom Challenge

As part of their 90th birthday celebrations, Australian Country Spinners are attempting to create a world record 90 metre pom pom garland to be entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. After the garland is measured on the 31st of August, it will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to a local charity.

I was attracted to the silliness of this challenge and have spent this week creating 4 tennis ball sized pom poms Β to be posted tomorrow.

  1. Even Daisy deer gets silly, playing in nature, kicking up her hooves in a big water puddle! I think this is a great idea, Margaret! I can’t wait to see what you create!

    • Hi Lori, Yes it can be highly entertaining watching animals express high spirits be they young or mature.

  2. How wonderful Margaret!! I’m all for silliness of this nature! Your pom poms are bright and colourful and I’m sure were lots of fun to make πŸ™‚ I’m most impressed with the stripey one – clever you! Probably a good occupation this week, given the dreadful weather…… so, what’s next on your list? πŸ™‚

    • Yes, I am glad I rose to the challenge, Enivea as this is the first time I have made pom poms using card board rings. Until now I have used commercial pom pom makers – I used to borrow a really nifty pom pom maker from my aunt.

Hopefully a collage/drawing I am currently working on will be the subject of my next post.
