The Eye
August 25, 2013

DSCN2444This painting was created by applying acrylic paint to canvas and then glad wrap (cling wrap or cling film depending on where you are from) was laid over the wet paint and scrunched and folded so the paint gathered in the folds. The glad wrap was left on the painting until  (semi) dry and then peeled off.

I made this painting at a workshop and each student had fun seeing what shapes had been created at random. In my painting, there was the unmistakable shape of an eye which stared down at me at work for a number of years and then joined me at home when I retired.

Pom Pom Challenge
August 14, 2013

As part of their 90th birthday celebrations, Australian Country Spinners are attempting to create a world record 90 metre pom pom garland to be entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. After the garland is measured on the 31st of August, it will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to a local charity.

I was attracted to the silliness of this challenge and have spent this week creating 4 tennis ball sized pom poms  to be posted tomorrow.

My First Beanies
August 5, 2013

I completed these knitted beanies today. They are child sized.

They are the first beanies I have made so I was keen to use a pattern suitable for beginners. I used the pattern for ‘Bev’s cozy knit cap’.

I plan to donate the beanies to a community organisation to use in their projects or to raise funds.

I hope the beanies find good homes.
